About Lord Seventh
Lord Seventh (Qiye - 七爷) is a novel by priest written in 2010.
It follows the life of Jing Beiyuan, a young prince who, after having died for his emperor, is offered another chance at living his life for himself.It is a plot-heavy romance novel set in a context of imperial court politics.Lord Seventh is most well known for its sequel,
Faraway Wanderers (Tian Ya Ke - 天涯客), which inspired a drama
adaptation in 2021, Word of Honor (Shan He Ling - 山河令).

About Team 7.0
Our team is composed of six enthusiastic Lord Seventh enjoyers. I (MT) am
very passionate about the novel and have decided to retranslate it myself, as a means to
better understand its subtleties and as to be able to share my passion with others.
I have been studying Mandarin for some years, now.Because I am neither a Mandarin nor English native speaker,
I have surrounded myself with other dedicated fans in order to help me create
the best translation possible according to our vision.CaityJay and bladedweapons are native English speakers with experiences in editing and infinite love for the novel.Lianzi is a native Mandarin speaker and is currently working on retranslating Faraway Wanderers.
We are also cooperating on having consistant localization of terms.Hanya is a native Mandarin speaker who has read the original version and is very passionate about it.Bichen is helping with editing as well as references.
Our goals
This translation aims at providing an accessible experience, even for people who aren't yet familiar
with the genres or customs. Fidelity to the original intent, rhythm and tone are, of course, our utmost priority.
However, in order to make it a smooth reading experience in the English language
(and also as a means to keep the flow of the original novel), this version is rather heavily localized,
which means that most terms are translated into English, and we do sometimes have to distanciate
ourselves from the original sentence construction and structure.Footnotes will be provided for specific expressions and idioms that couldn't be directly translated.We plan on releasing, in total, 7 bundles of 11 chapters each,
save for the last one which will include 10 chapters and the 3 extras.
We don't intend to have a necessarily regular schedule, but we plan on giving progress
updates on our twitter, tumblr and bluesky pages.
